DUEL DEGREE OPTIONS
AAS/BA
Under this option, students are in residence at Covenant for four years
while taking 34 hrs of specialized nursing courses at Chattanooga State
College at a site about 20 minutes drive from Covenant’s campus.
Students completing this program would receive an Associate of Applied
Science degree from Chattanooga State Technical College and a Bachelor
of Arts (BA) degree in Natural Science from Covenant. After successfully
completing the Tennessee State boards these students would be licensed
as Registered Nurses (RNs)
BA/MSN
Under this option, students are in residence at Covenant for three years
taking a prescribed set of courses including Covenant’ s Core
curriculum, foundational courses in the natural and social sciences as
well as selected courses in the humanities. During the third year these
students apply to Vanderbilt University’s graduate school of nursing and
upon acceptance begin a 24 month course of studies in Nashville, TN.
Selected course credits from Vanderbilt are transferred to Covenant
allowing students to graduate from both Covenant, with a BA degree in
Natural Sciences as well from Vanderbilt with a Master of Science in
Nursing degree. After successfully completing the Tennessee state boards
these students are certified as Nurse Practioners. Areas of
specialization in the Vanderbilt program include: adult health care,
primary care, psychiatric mental health, perinatal nursing, neonatal
nursing and nursing administration.
