Where is the department located?
The Biology department is located in the south wing of the 2nd floor in Mills, room number 5. The department consists of three primary labs, a senior research lab, and a commons area with faculty offices in the back.

How many students typically graduate each year with a Biology major?
Approximately 12 students typically graduate each year with a Biology major.


How many students are in a typical Biology class (i.e. a particular course)?
Classes such as General Biology and Anatomy & Physiology typically have between 30-40 students, but most Biology classes beyond that (specifically upper division classes) will have 10-15 students.

Do I have to major in Biology if I’m interested in medicine?
No. There is a common set of prerequisites that must be taken to be admitted to most medical schools, but they do not require you to major in Biology.  However most students preparing for med. school do take a science major. At Covenant most pre-med, pre-dental and pre-veterinary students take the  Biomedical option, which emphasizes cellular and molecular biology.

15 to 17 hours

Is the department involved in any research?
The Biology department is not yet involved in any formal research that offers internships, but hopes to start some next year. If you are interested in finding summer research internship programs, volunteer work, or paid positions, click here.

How can a student get involved in the Biology department?
Students, preferably Biology-majors, may ask Dr. Wenger if they may fulfill their practical service requirements or work-study (if they have it) by working for the department.
